The Genaray SSL-36B Soft Strip Bicolor LED Light (4 x 36") features a unique strip form factor that provides even, continuous illumination along its entire 36-inch length. In the studio, it’s ideal for head-and-shoulders portraits and tabletop photography, and it also excels as a hair light or accent light where you want a long, clean highlight. The bright LED array includes an integrated diffuser for a soft wraparound quality and a single-shadow beam that stays flattering on faces and products.
Soft, Controllable Beam with Built-In Barndoors
This bi-color strip light is constructed with full-length barndoors to shape the output and control spill. Close the doors down to cut the beam to a very narrow strip for precise control of light and shadow on subjects or backgrounds, useful for rim light, edge separation, or adding a controlled streak of light across a set.
Bi-Color Output and Accurate Color
The SSL-36B offers a color temperature range of 3000 to 5600 K, so you can match tungsten interiors, daylight, or mixed lighting without gels. With a TLCI greater than 97, it delivers strong color rendition for natural-looking skin tones and consistent color on-camera.
Precise Dimming and Quiet Operation
Power output is controlled by a digital control box that adjusts brightness in 1% increments from 100% all the way down to 0%, making it easy to fine-tune exposure or dial in a subtle accent. Passive cooling eliminates the need for a fan, so there’s no fan noise to interfere with microphones during video shoots.
AC or Battery Power, Flexible Positioning
The SSL-36B runs on AC or battery power for location work. It supports optional V-mount battery power and can also be used with the included multi-voltage 100-240 VAC AC power adapter. A lollipop mount is included for secure support and precise positioning on a light stand in virtually any orientation, helpful when you need the strip vertical, horizontal, or angled for hair, background, or tabletop setups.
Wireless Control Within the SSL System
The control box features an integrated transmitter and a 4-channel receiver, enabling brightness and color adjustments from another SSL-series light. The optional Genaray SSL-RC remote transmitter (sold separately) can control color temperature and brightness from up to 100 feet away, which is especially convenient when lights are boom-mounted, rigged overhead, or spread across a set.

- Battery Powered: If the first thing you do when you arrive at a location is hunt for a nearby power outlet for your lights, then a V-mount battery powered light can be a life saver. A V-mount battery adapter is included, which is a great convenience if you’re shooting on location or in a large room where there’s no nearby power outlet.
- AC Power: For indoor and studio shoots where outlets are readily available, you can run the SSL-36B on AC power with an included multi-voltage 100-240 VAC AC power adapter.

- Remote Control: Genaray’s SSL-RC remote transmitter (sold separately) allows you to control color temperature and brightness settings from up to 100 feet away. Remote operation is a must if your shoot requires you to control a single SSL-series light remotely. And it’s a huge convenience when operating several SSL-series lights at once because you won’t have to continually return to one of your lights in order to adjust the settings of your other lights.
