The Quasar Science Rainbow Q50R Linear LED is a versatile 4-foot RGBX tube fixture for film, TV, and photo lighting when you need fast setup, controllable color, and accurate white light. Built on the Crossfade Linear LED (X) platform, it combines variable broad spectrum white output with RGB color mixing so you can move quickly between natural, skin-friendly whites and saturated color effects on set.

RGBX color mixing for more natural whites

Based on the Crossfade Linear LED (X) which utilizes our 2000k and 6000k diodes to create variable broad spectrum white light, the Rainbow adds red, green and blue (RGB) diodes to the mix. When desaturating a color, such as red, using only RGB systems, the desired light level is achieved by mixing in the green and blue diodes. With RGBX, the Crossfade broad spectrum light manages the saturation level at a preselected color temperature, such as 2000 kelvin, by washing the red with independent white light.

As illustrated above with RGB derived white light, wide gaps in the spectral distribution compromise color response. With the RGBX system, the broad spectral curve provides a more balanced distribution, leveling the peaks and valleys, which more accurately renders natural colors and skin tones. In practice, this makes it easier to match existing sources and maintain consistent color rendition across scenes while still having full RGB color control when you need it.

Control for studio and location workflows

The Rainbow Q50R supports multiple ways to work, from quick adjustments on the manual interface with OLED screen to wireless control via LumenRadio. For wired runs, it supports DMX over Cat5 and is RDM compatible for remote addressing and fixture management in supported consoles and controllers. It also includes practical tools for multi-light setups, including Lead / Follow Mode and on board effects, making it easier to keep multiple tubes matched and build repeatable looks during faster turnarounds.

Flexible power options

Power is designed to adapt to different rigs with universal AC power (90v-256v) and a DC battery option (10v-26v), so you can run the same fixtures on location or in the studio without changing your lighting workflow.
