The SMARTY MAX is a compact, lightweight 480W hybrid moving head built for beam, spot, and wash applications in concerts, touring, houses of worship, and event production. It combines high output with long lamp life (up to 4,000 hours smart lamp life) and a broad effects toolkit, including CMY color mixing and variable CTO for dialing in anything from saturated looks to more natural whites.

Output and optics for beam, spot, and wash

Rated at 480W (with variable lamp power settings of 370/470/480W), the fixture delivers 21,000 lumens from its large 160mm front aperture for crisp beams, sharp gobo projection, and bright wash coverage. Motorized zoom and motorized focus with an auto-focus feature make it easier to adapt quickly across throw distances and scene changes.

Built-in FX package for dynamic looks

For effects, the SMARTY MAX includes an iris (noted as the world’s first Hybrid incorporating a full Iris for dynamic beam effects), four prisms on dual planes, dual frosts for light diffusion or full wash, and a dual track animation wheel for movement and texture. It also supports CMY color, gobo, and prism macros for faster programming and consistent repeatability.

Gobos, color, and control options

Color and pattern tools include a full CMY color mixing system, variable CTO, a 13-position color wheel, and two gobo wheels (8 interchangeable-rotating/indexing glass gobos and 14 static-stamped metal gobos). For timing effects, it offers a high speed shutter and strobe.

Integration is straightforward in modern lighting rigs, with support for DMX and RDM, plus network protocols including Art-Net and sACN. Connections include 5pin DMX in/out, RJ45 Ethernet in/out, and IP65 locking power cable in/out, with a wired digital communication network. Two DMX channel modes (27/44 channels) allow you to choose between faster patching or deeper control.

Movement, interface, and physical specs

Pan and tilt options include 540°/630° pan and 248° tilt for flexible coverage. Onboard control is handled via a (6) button touch panel and a full color 180° reversible LCD menu display.

The SMARTY MAX uses a Philips MSD Platinum 400 Flex 480W lamp and includes automated lamp hibernation with instant recovery to help manage output and extend lamp life in demanding show environments.
