The Wohler VMDA-4 Audio Monitor is a 1RU rackmount audio monitoring solution for broadcast, OB trucks, flypacks, and mobile racks, providing confident loudspeaker and headphone monitoring with metering for 2-channel AES and 8-channel balanced analog sources. It lets you select 1 of 4 AES or analog pairs for monitoring, or sum any of the 4 analog pairs to quickly verify multiple program and utility feeds from a single, shallow-depth chassis.

Designed for Tight Racks and Mobile Applications
The VM Series monitors are completely magnetically shielded to allow interference-free operation immediately adjacent to all CRT video monitors. The light weight and shallow depth chassis compared to similar type units, make them ideal for use in portable and mobile vehicle applications.
Flexible Source Selection and Monitoring Control
Monitor either analog or digital sources with clear level and phase feedback. The VMDA-4 provides two 10-segment VU level meters with phase/polarity indication, and a front-panel headphone jack that mutes the speakers for quiet monitoring when needed.
Connectivity and Technical Details
For system integration, the VMDA-4 includes 8 balanced analog inputs (mini Phoenix) and 4 AES inputs (mini Phoenix/BNC), plus 2 selected analog outputs (mini Phoenix). It also converts 110 ohm balanced AES (Phoenix) to and from 75 ohm unbalanced AES (BNC). Digital sampling rates from 32 to 48 kHz are auto-sensed. Analog input impedance is >100k ohm balanced, and AES input impedance supports both 75 ohm unbalanced and 110 ohm balanced.
Audio performance includes hum and noise better than -70 dB below full output, electrical distortion less than 0.3% below limiting threshold, and acoustic distortion typically under 2% (100 Hz to 15 kHz) below limiting. Speakers are designed to be blowout-proof, and the unit delivers up to 96 dB SPL at 2 feet (0.6 m) for monitoring in louder environments.
Dimensions are 1RU in a standard 19-inch rack (1.75 inches x 19 inches x 9.0 inches, or 44.5 mm x 483 mm x 246 mm), and weight is 10 lbs (4.50 kg).
