The Yamaha AD824 is a high-performance 8-channel analog-to-digital converter designed to bring microphones, instruments, and line-level sources into a digital recording or live sound workflow with clean, detailed conversion. With 24-bit linear A/D conversion and 128-times oversampling, it delivers a typical dynamic range of 110 dB for wide headroom and low noise when tracking or capturing program audio.

Conversion Performance for Studio and Live Rigs

The AD824 uses 24-bit linear converters with 128-times oversampling and provides a typical 110 dB dynamic range (GAIN +10 dB). For time-sensitive monitoring and routing, signal delay is specified at 0.85 ms from analog input to digital output (fs = 48 kHz). Crosstalk is rated at –70 dB between adjacent channels at 1 kHz.

Flexible Digital Output via Mini YGDAI Cards

Optional mini YGDAI (Yamaha General Digital Audio Interface) cards provide a variety of digital output interfaces, with support for popular digital audio interconnect formats including AES/EBU, ADAT, and Tascam TDIF-1. This makes it easier to integrate the AD824 into a wide range of consoles, recorders, and digital audio systems depending on the I/O format you need.

Mic and Line Inputs, Plus Analog Inserts Per Channel

Analog inputs feature electronically balanced XLR connections, high-quality mic preamps, independently switchable 48-volt phantom power, and rotary gain adjustment, so each channel can be set appropriately for microphones or line-level sources. For integrating analog outboard gear, each channel includes electronically balanced analog insert points on two 1/4" TRS phone jacks for patching in compressors, EQs, or other processing before conversion.

Front-Panel Control and Rack-Ready Build

Gain is shown on a 3-digit, 7-segment LED display, with gain error specified at +/-1 dB at 1 kHz (GAIN –62 dB to +10 dB). The unit measures 480 × 97.5 × 377.6 mm (18.9 x 3.84 x 14.86 inches) and weighs 8.5 kg (18.7 lbs), suitable for standard rack-based studios, mobile rigs, and installed systems.
