MA Lighting 8Port Node

With the increasing requirements of clients and designers in both fixed installations and events/concerts, the need for sophisticated solutions for signal transportation and data distribution is inevitable. Also, latest technical developments and requirements have to be met.

The MA Lighting 8Port Node is a rack-mount network node designed to convert Ethernet lighting data to DMX (or DMX back to Ethernet) where you need a high port count in one location, such as dimmer rooms, stage racks, FOH/BOH network breakouts, or touring racks. As part of the grandMA2 ecosystem, it fits perfectly into the grandMA2 system and its MA-Net2 protocol, which is based on this high speed to ensure maximum performance.

Networking Protocols and System Compatibility

The MA 8Port Node features 1Gbit/s bandwidth capability and speaks MA-Net2, Art-Net, and sACN, making it suitable for modern lighting networks where multiple universes must be distributed reliably across Ethernet. The MA xPort Nodes are fully configurable from the grandMA2 consoles or from grandMA2 onPC, allowing you to set up port direction and node behavior directly from your control workflow instead of configuring each port locally.

Flexible DMX Port Configuration

To achieve the highest flexibility, each DMX port can be individually configured as DMX in or DMX out. The MA 8Port Node is the perfect solution for converting a large amount of DMX universes at the same location. The MA 8Port Node offers the same amount of DMX universes like a MA NPU (Network Processing Unit).

Touring-Ready Hardware and Local Status

Optimised for touring and installation purposes, all products have a rugged steel housing for a long life even under harsh conditions. The Nodes offer a menu button, a USB connector and a 2" colour TFT as well as LEDs displaying the current status, helping technicians confirm network and port activity at a glance during load-in and troubleshooting.

All eight DMX outputs as well as the main switch, one powerCON and one etherCON connector are located at the rear side of the node. The MA 8Port Node comes as a 19"/1HU version for rack use.
