The Extron DMS 2000 is a modular DVI matrix switcher designed to route multiple DVI computer video sources to multiple displays in AV control rooms, live event systems, higher education, enterprise conferencing, and other multi-display environments. The DMS Series Modular DVI Matrix Switchers combine the simplicity and reliability of a fixed I/O matrix switcher with the convenience and flexibility of a modular matrix switcher.
For applications requiring a compact enclosure size with a single, fixed power supply, the DMS 2000 support I/O configurations up to 20x20, making it a practical fit when you need high-density switching without moving to a larger frame or more complex infrastructure.
Modular architecture for scalable systems
The DMS 2000 features a modular, field-upgradeable design that lets you select the configuration required for your system and expand over time. Hot-swappable components help keep the system running in mission-critical installations by allowing replacement of a fan assembly or power supply without powering down the switcher.
Video performance and EDID management
To support modern computer and presentation sources, the switcher supports computer video up to 1920x1200, including HDTV 1080p/60. Extron EDID Minder automatically manages EDID communication between connected devices, helping sources power up properly and reliably output content for display, reducing common handshake issues during source changes.
Front-panel operation plus network control
For day-to-day operation, the QS-FPC (QuickSwitch Front Panel Controller) provides tri-color backlit buttons with a discrete button for each input and output for straightforward I/O tie selection. Buttons can be custom labeled for quick identification and the red, green, or amber illumination supports low-light environments. A front panel security lockout is also available to prevent unauthorized use.
For centralized management, Ethernet monitoring and control enables proactive monitoring over a LAN, WAN, or the Internet using standard TCP/IP protocols. Ethernet control supports remote selection of I/O ties, EDID Minder configuration, and monitoring system status.
Presets, grouping, and room-based workflows
Global presets allow frequently used I/O configurations to be saved and recalled from the front panel, serial, or Ethernet control. I/O Grouping lets the matrix switcher be virtually divided into smaller sub-switchers, which is useful when distinct areas need independent routing. Rooming enables selected outputs to be grouped into up to 10 rooms, each with its own set of unique presets (10 presets per room). View I/O mode makes it easy to confirm which inputs and outputs are actively connected.
Installation and physical specifications
