The NEW City Theatrical 6" Top Hat (Pkg of 6) is a set of standard theatrical lighting top hats designed to help control light spill and reduce the viewing angle to the lens. When fixture optics are imperfect or lenses are poorly maintained, stray light can hit the audience or scenery; adding a top hat helps keep the beam where you intend and makes the bright source less visible to the audience or camera.

City Theatrical Standard Top Hats serve two functions in entertainment lighting: To control light spill, or to reduce the viewing angle to the lens. Sometimes poor fixture optics or poorly maintained lenses can cause light to be directed into the audience or onto scenery, and top hats can help control that. It is also often objectionable to the audience or camera to see the bright source of the light and top hats can shield the bright source from view.

Interior Flocking to Reduce Reflections

Black flocked interior is standard on all black top hats and half top hats for maximum reduction of glare and spill. All of our black top hats and half top hats are flocked on the interior to reduce light reflection.
