The Roland V-40HD is a true multi-format video switcher for live production, presentations, and event AV, letting you mix computers, cameras, Blu-ray players, and game consoles without having to match each source to the program output resolution. Each input includes a broadcast-quality scaler that automatically fits the signal to your chosen output format, making it easier to integrate mixed-resolution sources in real time.

Multi-Format Inputs and Flexible Outputs

The V-40HD provides twelve inputs across four channels plus one background. Each of the four input systems (Inputs 1 to 4) includes three connector types, HDMI, RGB/Component, and Composite, for a total of 12 physical input connections. For output, it offers three systems: Output (HDMI, RGB/Component, Composite), Output 2 (HDMI, RGB/Component), and a dedicated Preview (HDMI) output.

It supports input and output resolutions up to 1080/60p or 1920x1200, helping you feed both common broadcast formats and computer display resolutions. Independent scalers on both inputs and outputs provide added flexibility when driving different displays or capture/streaming destinations.

Monitoring and Switching Tools

A built-in input source multiviewer output provides a convenient monitoring solution when connected to an HDMI monitor, including a four-way split screen view of Inputs, PST, PGM, or DSK. Input status LEDs make it easy to confirm signal presence at a glance during setup and show time.

The V-40HD includes 1 M/E (PinP) + DSK for layering graphics, titles, or picture-in-picture elements over your program output. Built-in frame synchronizers on all inputs help stabilize sources and simplify switching between devices.

Signal Processing and HDCP Support

The V-40HD supports 1080p video signals and uses 4:4:4/10-bit internal signal processing (with 4:2:2/8-bit output processing), preserving detail and color fidelity from high-resolution camera and computer sources.

It is HDCP compliant and features an HDCP mode that allows switching copy-protected content from sources such as Blu-ray Discs or game consoles. This lets you mix HDCP sources with other camera and computer inputs, with output to a display via HDMI.

Integrated Audio for Cleaner Workflows

The V-40HD can input background music, narration, or other analog sound sources, mix and sync the video and audio, and then output the result via HDMI. Audio embedding and an adjustable audio delay help align sound with video for improved lip sync.
