The Lightware MX-FR65R is a 65x65 Crosspoint MX modular digital router frame built for large-format AV switching in corporate, education, broadcast, and high-end home theater environments. Its non-blocking crosspoint matrix architecture lets you route any source to any output, including one-to-many distribution, without introducing processing delay. As part of Lightware’s MX series, the chassis supports a modular, expandable system design, so you can build a routing platform that matches your signal and connector requirements via compatible I/O boards.
Routing Performance for High-Resolution Digital Video
The MX Series supports 4K UHD, 2560x1600, and 1920x1080@120Hz resolutions, along with standard HDMI 3D formats and all HDMI 1.3 resolutions, operating without signal latency. It also supports HDTV formats including 720p, 1080i, and 1080p, with or without HDCP encryption (relevant I/O boards are fully HDCP compliant). Both HDCP-encrypted and non-HDCP components can be installed in the same system within the same chassis.
Signal Integrity and Diagnostics
For reliable long-run installations, the router includes built-in cable compensation on each DVI, HDMI, or SDI input (per port), plus pixel-accurate reclocking on each output to deliver a clean, jitter-free signal. Integrated frame detection and signal analysis provide visibility into timing, frequencies, scan mode, HDCP status, color range, color space, and audio sample rate, helping speed up troubleshooting during commissioning and live operation.
EDID Control and System Integration
Advanced EDID management allows you to emulate EDID on inputs independently and store attached monitor EDIDs in internal memory, with 100 factory presets and 50 user programmable EDID memories (256-Byte Extended EDID v1.3). Control and configuration are available via the front panel (buttons and a 4 x 20 character LCD), USB, RS-232/422 (selectable baud rates), Ethernet (10/100), and the built-in website. The Lightware Device Controller (LDC) software is available for Windows and macOS, and the matrix supports multiple simultaneous TCP/IP connections with a simple ASCII based protocol. Remote Input Control over DDC (RICOD) is also supported for switching inputs remotely on Lightware signal extenders without additional control cabling.
Power and Environmental Specifications
The chassis accepts 100 to 240V AC, 50/60 Hz on a standard IEC connector, and supports power failure memory so it restarts with the latest configuration after power loss. DVI +5V power support provides 500 mA constant current output on each DVI or HDMI output to power long distance fiber optical cables or other DVI powered devices. Operational temperature is 0°C to +50°C (storage -40°C to +70°C), humidity is 10 to 90% non-condensing, and operational altitude is 2000 m.
