The Vari-Lite VL3000Q Spot is a professional moving head spotlight designed for theatre, broadcast, and live events where quiet operation is important. With a 1200 W short arc lamp, 6:1 zoom optics, and a flexible effects package, it delivers bright, controllable beams for key light, aerial effects, and textured looks on stage.

Optics, color, and beam shaping

The VL3000Q Spot luminaire features 6:1 zoom optics for quick coverage changes from tighter beams to wider stage washes, plus CYM color mixing and variable CTO color temperature correction to better match cameras or other fixtures. A six position fixed color wheel is also included for fast, repeatable color selection.

Gobos and effects for dynamic looks

For projection and breakup effects, the fixture includes two rotating gobo wheels, one rotating effects wheel, and a beam size iris to fine-tune edge definition and beam diameter. Separate dimmer and ultra-fast strobe mechanisms support crisp fades and punchy strobe looks. A standard pallet of gobos, effects and colors is provided with the unit.

Series 3000Q operation and thermal notes

The Series 3000Q Spot moves and operates the same as the original Series 3000 luminaires. The trade off is strictly thermal. The "Q" range has an ambient temperature rating of 40-degrees Celsius, compared to the 50-degrees Celsius rating on the standard Series 3000 fixtures. The "Q" range fixtures are designed for situations where the absence of noise is critical to the performance. The change in size and weight due to the modifications is minimal, allowing a consistent hang configuration and appearance no matter which luminaire type is required. The bottom vent cover is one inch taller, and the fixture is one pound heavier than the original Series 3000 fixtures.
