Spiider is a superbright next generation LED wash/beam moving head designed for stages, touring rigs, and event production where you need both tight aerial beams and wide, even wash from the same fixture. It uses 18x 30W RGBW LEDs plus a central 60W RGBW multichip and pairs them with a high-efficiency 12.5:1 zoom that runs from a tight 4° beam to a wide 50° wash. Output is rated at 11,000 lm and 50,100 lx @ 5 m, making it suitable for punchy looks even in bright environments.

Wash, Beam, and In-Air Effects

The Spiider blends hard-edge in-air effects with smooth, homogenized wash, so you can move from focused beam looks to broad coverage without changing fixtures. Rich color from 19 powerful RGBW LEDs supports both RGBW and CMY mixing, with an internal 18-bit dimming engine for fine fades and consistent low-end control. A variable CTO range of 2,700K to 8,000K helps match cameras or blend with tungsten and daylight sources, and a virtual color wheel provides 66 preset LEE swatches for quick, repeatable color choices.

Pixel Control, Flower Effect, and Dynamic Looks

For visual effects and chase looks, each RGBW pixel can be controlled individually, and the fixture includes pre-programmed pixel effects, including color, dimming, and strobe chases, waves, and pulses with variable speed and direction. The central 60W RGBW multichip drives Robe’s exclusive Flower Effect, creating sharp multi-coloured spikes of light that can rotate in both directions at variable speed for additional texture in the air. Strobe effects are available up to 20 flashes per second, with random strobe and pulse options for live and timecoded shows.

Control and Integration

The ROBE ROBIN Spiider supports USITT DMX-512 and RDM, plus network and media workflows via Art-Net, sACN, MA Net/MA Net2, and Kling-Net. Dynamic video effects can be achieved by mapping individual pixels and controlled by a DMX desk or media servers via sACN with internal HTP merging, DMX, or Kling-Net. Ten DMX modes are available, with control channel counts including 27, 33, 46, 49, 90, 91, 103, 110, and 122, providing flexibility for compact or detailed programming.

Practical Details for Production Use

Setup and addressing are handled by the ROBE Navigation System 2 (RNS2) with a QVGA Robe touchscreen, battery backup, and service log with RTC. Pan/tilt runs at 16-bit resolution for smooth movement, and the fixture is designed for long-term use with an LED life expectancy of 20,000 hours (typical lumen maintenance 70% at 20,000 hours).
