The powerful ROBE ROBIN BMFL WashBeam is a 1700 W moving head built for high-impact beam and wash applications in concerts, touring, festivals, and large stage productions. Its super wide 180 mm front lens delivers a big, defined beam look, while the fixture’s optical and effects system supports everything from bold aerial effects to controlled, framed projections.

Output, optics, and beam-to-wash flexibility

Using a compact short-arc metal halide source (OSRAM Lok-it! HTI 1700/PS, PGJX28 base), the BMFL WashBeam produces an astounding 300,000 lux at 5 metres, making it well suited for long throws and high ambient-light environments. Motorized zoom and focus help you move quickly between tight, punchy beams and broader coverage, while variable frost (Light, Medium, plus replaceable Heavy) smooths edges for more wash-like looks.

Color, gobo, and in-air effects

For color control, it combines CMY mixing (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow 0 to 100%) with variable CTO from 2,700 to 6,000 K, letting you match other fixtures or camera settings. Two color wheels add fast-access looks: Wheel 1 includes 6 fixed dichroic colors (deep red, deep blue, orange, green, magenta, congo blue) plus white, and Wheel 2 provides 6 replaceable “SLOT&LOCK” colors (pink, lavender, laser green, 9,000 K CTB, minus half, minus green) plus white.

A rotating gobo wheel with 6 rotating, indexable, replaceable “SLOT&LOCK” glass gobos (plus open) creates textured aerials and spot-like projections on surfaces. An aluminium animation wheel can be used alone or combined with gobos for layered motion, and the motorized iris supports stepless control and pulse effects up to 3 Hz.

Framing, dimming, and shutter control

Four fast framing shutter blades provide smooth, precise movement and individually angled positions within a frame. The complete framing system rotates through 90 degrees (±45°), enabling sharp or soft, repeatable framing for projected images, as well as dynamic in-air beam effects when the shutters move quickly. A separate dual blade shutter offers variable strobe up to 10 Hz, full blackout, and an optimized dual blade dimmer system for exceptionally smooth fades.

Movement, rigging, and control

Pan and tilt travel is 540° and 270° respectively, with selectable Standard and Speed movement control and adjustable Pan/Tilt speed for consistent behavior across multi-fixture rigs. An electronic ballast supports automatic and remote lamp on/off. Additional key specs include CRI 92+, 6,000 K color temperature, dimensions of 826 x 483 x 335 mm, and a weight of 38.4 kg (84.7 lbs).
