The MA Lighting NPU Network Processing Unit (8GB) is a dedicated network processor that brings grandMA2-level performance to your lighting network, adding parameters and converting Ethernet control data to DMX for reliable, decentralized distribution. It is designed for venues and touring rigs that need centralized processing with flexible DMX I/O at the edge of the system.
Processing Power for grandMA2 Networks
The MA NPU (Network Processing Unit) unites the calculation power in the network and offers the same performance as the grandMA2 consoles. The MA NPU offers and handles 4,096 parameters, helping expand a system beyond what a single controller can manage on its own. With an easy to read touchscreen the MA NPU allows intuitive use and easy access to all the important information.
Ethernet to DMX Conversion with Flexible I/O
The MA NPU is the link between Ethernet and DMX controlled devices, converting incoming Ethernet data into DMX data for streamlined fixture control. On the rear panel, 8 x DMX XLR 5-pin connectors provide flexible routing, and each connector can be configured as a DMX input or output for a wide range of show and infrastructure needs.
Built for Redundancy and Multi-Console Workflows
Within a network, several grandMA2 consoles share the available MA NPU devices. For parameter expansion the MA NPU shall be located in a centralized position, whereas MA xPort Nodes are used to distribute and output DMX data. This allows DMX devices being used by several consoles together, and it provides a redundant mode of operation without additional components such as DMX mergers.
