With dual-channel conversion and frame synchronizing in a slim 1RU space, the AJA FS2 Dual Channel Sync/Converter can do the work of two separate devices or combine both processors together for maximum flexibility. It is built for broadcast and production workflows where you need to reliably match formats, align timing, and keep signals stable when sources are not genlocked.

Dual-Channel Processing for Mixed-Format Workflows

FS2 supports up, down, and cross-conversion, making it a practical choice for facilities bridging HD and SD gear or standardizing incoming feeds for routing, switching, recording, or streaming. Use the two channels independently to process two different sources, or pair them when a workflow requires coordinated processing.

Professional Video I/O (SDI, HDMI, Component, Optional Fiber)

Connect common production and broadcast sources with 2x 3G-SDI inputs and 2x 3G-SDI outputs, plus HDMI I/O for integration with monitors and other HDMI-equipped devices. For analog/component environments, it includes HD component YPbPr SMPTE-274 (3x BNC) input and output. Optional fiber 3G-SDI I/O (2x in, 2x out) is available on supported configurations for longer runs and facility infrastructure.

Embedded and Discrete Audio Handling

FS2 carries and manages audio alongside video with 16-channel, 24-bit SMPTE-272/299 embedded SDI audio at a 48 kHz sample rate (synchronous I/O). It also supports 16-channel, 24-bit AES/EBU audio at 48 kHz, either synchronous or nonsynchronous, with internal sample rate conversion via 8x XLR on a 25-pin breakout cable, helping maintain clean audio when sources do not share a common clock.

Control and Installation

Front panel controls provide quick local access, while the easy-to-use web UI lets you configure and control the unit from standard web browsers for day-to-day operation in racks and machine rooms. The chassis fits standard racks at 17.25" x 14.5" x 1.75" (438.15 x 368.3 x 44.45 mm) and weighs 7.9 lb (3.6 kg).
