The Roland V-800HD is a true multi-format video mixer for live production, event AV, and broadcast style workflows, designed to switch and mix mixed-resolution sources without needing to match every input to the final program output. Each input includes its own broadcast-quality scaler, allowing you to individually scale, stretch, crop, and zoom sources so they fit the output format you choose.

Multi-Format Switching and Monitoring

The V-800HD is HDCP compatible and also features a built-in multi-viewer output that provides a convenient monitoring solution when connected to an HDMI monitor. You can switch the multiviewer between Y/Cr/Cb and RGB modes, which is helpful when aligning sources and monitoring color space in a mixed-format environment.

Connectivity for SDI, HDMI/DVI, Analog, and Stills

Eight mixing channels provide connectivity to 3G/HD/SD-SDI, DVI-A/DVI-D/HDMI, RGB, component, and composite formats, making it a practical hub for cameras, computers, media players, and legacy analog sources in the same show. The system supports an 8-channel, 16-input configuration (4 SDI, 4 composite, 4 DVI-I/HDMI, 4 RGB/component) and offers six outputs (2 SDI, 2 DVI-D/HDMI, RGB/component, and composite) to feed projectors, recorders, monitors, and distribution paths simultaneously.

In addition to live inputs, the V-800HD provides live access to two still-image sources, assignable via USB memory stick or frame grab, which is useful for logos, slates, sponsor cards, or holding images between segments.

Keying, PinP, and Internal Processing

For compositing and graphic layering, the V-800HD includes 1 M/E (Key, PinP) plus DSK, along with a newly developed key-compositing engine that lets you adjust phase range, amount of chroma, and HSV color space parameters. Another key compositing feature includes an external keyer enabling CG titles and gradation clips, enabling impressive visual effects.

Internally, it uses 4:4:4/10-bit processing and includes built-in frame synchronizers and scalers on all inputs, helping stabilize sources and maintain consistent timing when switching between devices.
