Elation Smarty Max

The Elation SMARTY MAX is a compact, lightweight 480W hybrid moving head built for high-impact beam, spot, and wash applications. It combines high output and long lamp life in a feature packed design, rated up to 4,000 hours smart lamp life, and it delivers 21,000 lumens through a large 160mm front aperture for crisp, punchy beams, sharp gobo projection, and bright washes.

Output, optics, and color control

For practical flexibility across venues and show styles, the SMARTY MAX supports Beam, Spot and Wash Modes with a motorized zoom and dual frost filters that let you move from a light diffusion to a full wash look without changing fixtures. The full CMY color mixing system is paired with variable CTO for dialing in warmer or cooler white tones on camera and on stage, plus a 13-position color wheel for fast, repeatable color hits.

Beam effects and mid-air FX

Designed for dynamic aerial looks, the SMARTY MAX includes an iris (noted as the world’s first Hybrid incorporating a full Iris) for tightening beam size and creating more dramatic beam breaks. Four prisms on dual planes, dual gobo wheels, and the unique dual track animation wheel provide layered texture options, from sharp breakup to sweeping motion effects. Prism and gobo macros help speed up programming when you need consistent looks across multiple fixtures.

Focus, movement, and performance tools

Motorized focus with an auto-focus feature helps keep gobos and patterns crisp at varying throw distances, and the high-speed shutter and strobe support fast accents and rhythmic effects. Movement is optimized for placement and repositioning with pan angle options of 540°/630° and a 248° tilt range.

Control and networking

The fixture offers two DMX channel modes (27 or 44 channels) to match your console workflow, plus support for DMX, RDM, Art-Net, and sACN for modern networked lighting systems. Connections include 5pin DMX In/Out and RJ45 Ethernet In/Out, with a full color 180° reversible LCD menu display and a 6-button touch panel for straightforward local setup.

Lamp system and power

Using the Philips MSD Platinum 400 Flex 480W lamp, the SMARTY MAX provides variable lamp power options (370/470/480W) for balancing output and lamp life. Automated lamp hibernation with instant recovery is designed to reduce wear and heat during downtime while keeping the fixture ready for quick returns.
