Lightware MX8x8DVI-Pro is an eight input eight output DVI matrix router designed to route and switch DVI-D video between multiple sources and displays in AV racks, control rooms, live production, and presentation environments. It switches all DVI-D resolutions from 640x480 @ 60Hz to 1920 x 1200 including all HDTV resolutions: 720p, 1080i, 1080p, 2048 x1080, making it a practical choice for mixed-resolution systems and professional display workflows.

Signal Integrity and Reliable Switching

The MX8x8DVI-Pro uses a fully non-blocking switching architecture with pixel accurate reclocking to help maintain stable video performance across the matrix. Because it performs no video compression, it adds no signal latency and delivers zero frame delay, which is especially important for real-time switching in production and operator-driven environments.

Built for Longer Cable Runs and Fiber Adapters

All inputs have a unique cable equalization circuit which allows using up to 50 meter cable, supporting cleaner signal delivery when sources are located far from the rack (with 24 AWG high quality DVI/HDMI cable). All outputs have 500 mA power on DVI +5V pin to power fiber optical DVI cables, which can simplify installations that use fiber adapters and other powered DVI accessories.

Control, EDID Management, and Presets

For integration into managed AV systems, the device supports control via Ethernet (TCP/IP) and RS-232, and also provides front panel buttons for crosspoint control. Advanced EDID Management is included (50 Factory presets, 50 user programmable slots) to help align source and display handshakes, reduce resolution conflicts, and standardize output behavior across different displays. You can also save and reload full crosspoint configurations as preset, supported by intuitive control software for device configuration.

Integration and Installation Notes

Directly mountable in 19" rack and equipped with a built-in universal power supply, the unit is intended for professional rack deployments. It also lists Vista Spyder and Barco Encore compatibility and supports all VESA and HDTV resolutions.
