Yamaha DM2000 96-Channel Digital Mixer

The Yamaha DM2000 96-Channel Digital Mixer is a digital production console built for studio, broadcast, and live workflows that need high channel count mixing with hands-on control. It delivers 24-bit/96 kHz audio processing, comprehensive surround mixing and monitoring (including bass management and down mixing), and integrated control of popular DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) systems.

Workflow and Control Surface Design

Designed with production in mind, the DM2000 organizes channels across four Input Layers, a Master Layer, and four Remote Layers, making it practical to manage large sessions without losing access to key controls. The console includes 25 touch-sensitive 100 mm motorized faders (touch sense can be used to select channels or punch faders in/out during Automix recording), plus 24 encoders for pan, Aux/Matrix send levels, or user-assigned parameters. A 320 x 240 dot LCD display with fluorescent backlight, along with fluorescent channel strip displays, keeps routing, naming, and status information visible during fast-paced work.

Mixing, Routing, and Session Recall

With 96 input channels, the DM2000 supports complex routing for tracking, submixing, or multi-source broadcast mixes. It provides 8 bus outs (with routing to Stereo Out for subgrouping), 12 aux sends, and 4 stereo matrix sends (22 x 8 matrix), plus a dedicated Stereo Out. For repeatable setups and fast changeovers, channels can be named for easy identification, and the channel library offers 127 user memories, with copy and paste channel settings for consistent builds across sessions. A 2-digit Scene memory display, Display History buttons, and four EQ displays (frequency, gain, and Q) help speed navigation and adjustments.

Automation, Storage, and Practical Console Details

For automation and data handling, the DM2000 includes a SmartMedia card slot for Automix, Scene, library, and setup data storage and transfer. Sixteen user-definable buttons are available for frequently repeated actions, and the SELECTED CHANNEL section provides complete hands-on control of all channel functions.
