The MCMGBSC15 Ethernet Media Converter converts transparently to/from 1000Base-T Ethernet signals and 1000Base-LH optical signals, providing a cost-effective Ethernet-fiber/copper-fiber link. Perfect for extending an Ethernet network connection over a Single Mode fiber backbone, it supports runs up to 15 kilometers (9.32 miles) using SC-terminated single-mode (SM) fiber.

With a compact footprint and LED indicators, it is well-suited for wiring closets, MDF/IDF deployments, or point-to-point building links where you want reliable link status at a glance.

Network Performance and Compatibility

Designed for Gigabit environments, the converter supports 802.3ab 1000Base-TX and 1000Base-LX/LH industry standards, and it uses a 1310nm wavelength for the fiber connection. Auto negotiation on the RJ45 port, along with Auto MDI/MDI-X (crossover for the TX port), helps simplify installation and reduces configuration time when integrating into existing equipment.

VLAN and Metro-E Friendly Switching

For networks carrying tagged traffic, the converter supports IEEE 802.1q Tag VLAN pass-through and transparent Q-in-Q double-tagged frames, helping preserve VLAN structure across the fiber link when connecting switches or extending services.

Link Management and Physical Details

On the fiber link, it supports forced full duplex or auto-negotiation modes and auto-detects half/full duplex transfer mode from the TX port, making it easier to match common switch configurations.
