Clay Paky Sharpy X Frame is a groundbreaking multifunction hybrid luminaire built for bright spotlighting, dynamic aerial effects, and precise framing in touring, event, broadcast, and installation environments. It combines the best-known performance traits of the Sharpy line with an innovative four-focal plane shutter system, all in a lightweight, compact design that’s easier to rig, fly, and transport without giving up creative tools.
Hybrid output with high-impact optics
At the core is a Philips 25R 550W arc lamp delivering 18,800 lumens (integrating sphere), with CRI 80+ and a color temperature of 8000K. Claypaky’s high-efficiency optical system and 160mm front lens help produce sharp images and clean, collimated beams, making the Sharpy X Frame equally at home as a tight beam effect or a crisp spot for textured projection.
Wide zoom coverage for beam, spot, and wash looks
The fixture covers a broad range of applications with motorized zoom from 3° to 52° in Spot mode and 2° to 29° in Beam mode. For smoothing edges and transitioning into softer looks, it includes linear frost options (heavy frost 5° for wash effect on Sharpy X Frame, and light frost 2° for wash effect on Sharpy X Frame FD).
Color, gobos, animation, and aerial effects
For fast palette building and repeatable show looks, Sharpy X Frame includes linear CMY color mixing, linear CTO, plus a fixed color wheel with 14 dichroic colors. Texturing and movement options include a rotating gobo wheel with 8 HD indexable, replaceable gobos (19mm outer diameter, 13.5mm image diameter, 1.1mm thickness), a static gobo wheel with 18 gobos, and an aluminum animation wheel with continuous bi-directional rotation at variable speed. For bold aerial and mid-air breakups, it also features two rotating prisms (4- and 8-facet), plus a motorized iris with variable pulse and random effects. Built-in macros support quick programming and consistent results show to show.
Integrated four-focal plane framing for cleaner stages
The integrated shutter system provides four blades with +/- 60° rotation of the full system, enabling accurate beam shaping for scenic elements, screens, and architectural lines. The “Total Curtain” effect allows full blackout with each single blade, which is especially useful for creating curtain looks to introduce a performance, transition between scenes, or add a dynamic visual element during a live show.
Fast, accurate movement and touring-friendly handling
Pan and tilt are 16-bit (540° pan, 270° tilt), with automatic repositioning and selectable fast/standard speed via the function channel. Mechanical pan/tilt locks support safer transportation and maintenance. The fixture measures 306 x 350 x 668mm and weighs 28 kg (61.7 lbs). Lamp life expectancy is 1500 hours.
