The MA Lighting grandMA2 Full-Size is a flagship lighting control console built to run complex shows with conventional fixtures, moving lights, LEDs, and media from a single platform. Designed for fast, hands-on programming, it combines motorized playback, multi-touch control, and a familiar grandMA-style layout that supports efficient operation in concert touring, theatre, broadcast, and live event workflows.

Programming Workflow and Control Surface

Equipped with current-generation console technology and practical operator features (including an integrated keyboard drawer and a dedicated multi-touch command screen), the grandMA2 is built for quick navigation and consistent command entry. For operators moving between grandMA2 consoles, the command keys are located in the same place across the series for easier operation. The console also supports converting grandMA series 1 showfiles for use on the grandMA2, which can help when updating legacy productions.

Capacity, Outputs, and Expandability

For larger rigs, the grandMA2 Full-Size provides real-time control for up to 65,536 parameters per session when used in connection with an MA NPU (equivalent to 256 DMX universes). It also supports 8,192 HTP/LTP parameters and includes 6 DMX outputs for direct, local distribution. The control surface includes 30 motorized executor faders plus 2 motorized A/B faders (100 mm) for precise, repeatable playback. For expanded hands-on control, the grandMA2 fader wing can provide up to 60 additional motorized executor faders for an almost unlimited number of pages.

Displays, Connectivity, and Reliability Features

Onboard monitoring includes 3 internal 15.4-inch WXGA TFT wide-mode touchscreens and an internal 9-inch SVGA multi-touch command screen. Two external TFT screens can be connected (UXGA, touchscreens accepted) to support multi-screen programming and playback views. Connectivity includes 2 etherCON connectors and 5 USB 2.0 connectors. A built-in uninterruptible power supply (UPS) helps protect against brief power interruptions, and the console features individually backlit, dimmable, silent (clickless) keys for comfortable operation in dark or quiet environments.
