Evertz 5950 Time Code Reader

The Evertz 5950 Time Code Reader is a VITC and LTC time code reader, VITC to LTC translator and full function character inserter with on-screen programming menu. Designed for broadcast and post-production workflows, it supports SMPTE drop or non-drop frame and EBU time code, making it well-suited for time code verification, conversion, and on-screen time/user-bit display during ingest, dub, and edit.

This unit may show signs of heavy wear but is in good working condition.

Time Code Reading, Translation, and Display

The model 5950 reads LTC from 1/30th to 70x play speed and provides a full speed VITC reader with line select. An automatic switchover mode helps maintain stable operation when working across changing source conditions. The 12 digit alpha-numeric display can be used for diplaying Time Code, User bits, or operational messages, useful for quick confirmation at the rack or bench without relying on an external monitor.

On-Screen Character Inserter for Monitoring

For confidence monitoring and offline review, the high resolution character inserter supports three character sizes (8, 16, and 32 lines), with time and user bits separately positionable on screen. An on-screen programming menu allows convenient setup and adjustments without additional hardware or software.

Broadcast Standard Support and Signal Conditioning

Dual Standard (NTSC and PAL) capability makes the unit adaptable to mixed-format environments. The 5950 also includes VITC to LTC translator functionality, plus LTC reshaper/regenerator for cleaner, more reliable LTC output in downstream equipment.
