Description
The AJA Hi5 Mini-Converter SD/HD-SDI to HDMI is a compact converter designed to take an SDI or HD-SDI signal and output it over HDMI, making it ideal for driving HDMI monitors from professional SDI sources. Embedded SDI/HD-SDI audio is supported in the HDMI output, allowing a convenient single cable audio/video connection. If needed, the Hi5 provides 2 Channel RCA style audio outputs for separate audio monitoring. The Hi5 also provides a looping SDI/ HD-SDI output useful for connecting additional equipment or for “daisy chaining” multiple monitors to the same SDI-HD-SDI source.

Signal Conversion for SDI Monitoring Workflows
Use the Hi5 to bridge broadcast and production gear (SDI/HD-SDI) to common HDMI displays for on-set monitoring, edit bays, flypacks, and equipment racks where an SDI source needs to be viewed on an HDMI monitor. Because the HDMI output is not HDCP-encrypted, it is suited to professional SDI sources that are unencrypted, and compatible HDMI monitors are required to support unencrypted inputs per the HDMI specification.
Connectivity and Audio Options
The converter accepts SMPTE-259/274/292/296 SD/HD-SDI via 1 x BNC input and outputs HDMI (Standard Type A) with embedded 24-bit audio. Audio channel mapping is selectable by internal jumper (2 or 8 channels). For separate audio monitoring, it provides 2-channel RCA style audio outputs at -10dBu (nominal), Channel 1 and 2. A looping SD/HD-SDI output (75 ohm, unterminated) passes through the SDI input for downstream gear or daisy-chaining additional displays.
