The VARI❋LITE VL1100 ERS luminaire combines the functionality of the ellipsoidal reflector spotlight with the versatility of an automated luminaire, making it a strong fit for theatrical key light, specials, and precise gobo projection where remote control and repeatability matter. It uses a 1000W tungsten halogen source (3200K) with an output of 10,000 lumens (115V lamp) and a 300-hour rated lamp life.
Automated Color, Gobo, and Beam Control
Automated functions include a fully cross-fading CYM color mixing system, a six-position rotating gobo wheel (five rotatable and indexable positions plus open), variable diffusion, and zoom optics designed for both imaging and wash-like flexibility. The zoom lens ranges from 19° to 36° for normal imaging, and includes a programmable super zoom that ranges to 70°. Super zoom timing can be programmed from 2 seconds to 20 minutes for fast changes or slow transitions. (Gobos/patterns are sold separately and are not included with the fixture.)
Quiet Operation for Performance Environments
A 50 kHz drive system is used to quiet all two-phase motors during movement and while static. A central bearing system in the gobo wheel reduces noise and helps ensure smooth operation of the mechanism. Additionally, three-phase, ultra quiet stepper motors provide smoother and quieter pan and tilt operation, useful in studios and theaters where fixture noise can be audible.
VL1100TSD Framing Shutters and Precise Positioning
The VL1100TSD model includes an automated, four-blade shutter mechanism that provides control of all shutter functions popular in conventional ellipsoidal reflector spotlights. The four-blade system can frame and crop the beam field and gobos, each individual shutter can translate to beam center while also rotating 35, and the entire shutter rotates 45.
For smooth, repeatable focus and cueing, pan and tilt provide timed continuous motion using encoder correction. Pan range is 540, tilt is 270, and resolution is 0.1. The unit will calibrate to support close hangs (yoke-to-yoke). Dimming is handled by an integral, silent IGBT electronic dimmer, and the field or gobo can be continuously and smoothly diffused to soften edges into a wash.
