NEW Obsidian NX2 Console

The NEW Obsidian NX2 Console (NX 2) is a compact, fully integrated lighting controller built for professional shows, tours, and event production where you want full ONYX power in a smaller footprint. As a member of the innovative ONYX platform from Obsidian Control Systems the NX 2 is feature rich and never restricted in its capabilities. NX 2 includes a high brightness Full HD multi touch screen, 8 assignable parameter encoders, an assistive mini touch screen, full keypad and command section, a dedicated grand master and 10 full playbacks with four freely assignable buttons.

Fast, show-ready performance

Utilizing the latest in industrial components the NX 2 contains a powerful new Intel Hexa-Core processor, high speed NVMe SSD drive and 16GB of DDR4 RAM. Fast boot times and instant operation help the console stay responsive when working with large fixture counts, complex effects, and multiple playback layers. The ability to process 64 Universes right inside the console without the need for costly external processing networks makes it well suited for demanding rigs while keeping the system simple to deploy.

Hands-on control designed for programming and playback

The NX 2 is ergonomic with its compact footprint, full ONYX command and keypad section and the bright adjustable HD touch screen. For tactile control during programming and live operation, the surface provides 10 x 60 mm playback faders (each with 4 x function-assignable buttons), 8 x customizable multi-function keys, a Playback Select button, a Master Go section (Go, Pause, Snap and Release), Blind/HighLight/Last/Next buttons, plus a full numerical keypad and command keys. Fixture control is supported by 4 digital rotary encoders with push function and status LED, plus 4 screen mounted digital rotary encoders with push. A 3.5” RGB touchscreen provides quick access to parameter groups, effect parameters, fanning and global timings, and a dedicated grand master rotary fader and button keeps overall output control immediately accessible.

Connectivity for modern lighting networks and show control

With four DMX ports, Timecode, Midi and dual Gigabit ports for up to 64 Universes of Art-Net, sACN plus the ONYX X-Net protocol the NX 2 has all the connectivity and power the ever-increasing sizes of shows demand. Physical I/O includes 4 x DMX / RDM Universe In/Out on 5-pin locking XLR, SMPTE Timecode In/Out on 3-pin XLR, and MIDI in/out/thru on 5-pin DIN for MIDI show control, MIDI notes, and MIDI timecode. Audio Out and Mic In are provided via 2 x 3.5mm jacks.

Expandability and system details

Two additional 4K touch monitors are supported for even more direct access at any time, using 2x DisplayPort (up to 4k). Storage and peripherals connect via 4x USB 3.0, 1x USB 2.0, plus a USB 2.0 B input, and the console supports Windows USB touchscreens. The NX 2 uses a Windows 10 IoT Embedded Operating System (OS installation by USB 3.0 storage device) with integrated graphics, a 250 GB NVMe M.2 storage drive, and a quiet thermal design using advanced copper heat pipe coolers.
