The Vari-Lite VL4000 BEAMWASH is built for professional lighting designers, rental inventories, venues, and touring productions that need one fixture to cover both wide, smooth washes and tight, high-impact beam looks.

Beam, Wash, and “Shaft” Looks Without a Lens Change

Without the need to change lenses, the VL4000 BEAMWASH combines stunning wash capabilities with intense beam functionality and the ability to produce a powerful collimated shaft of light. Producing 43,000 lumens in standard mode (35,000 studio mode), the VL4000 BEAMWASH uses a 1200W lamp to provide incredible point-of-source imagery through its 254mm (10”) front lens.

When used in wash mode, the luminaire provides a 10 to 60 degree zoom range, making it practical for anything from tighter stage coverage to broader area washes. By simply adjusting a DMX value, the VL4000 BEAMWASH can shift to an intense beam luminaire with an amazing 4 to 40 degree beam angle, or a Shaft fixture for a powerful, collimated ray of light where the 4 degree beam angle can be further reduced to near zero. This fast mode switching helps streamline programming when you need multiple looks from the same rig position.

Color, Optics, and Effects for Show Design

• Dual opposing color wheels plus an infinity CMY cross fading system for smooth mixing and transitions.
• Variable CTO color temperature correction for more controlled white light and easier matching across fixtures on stage.
• 2 fixed color wheels (five positions each) for fast, repeatable color selections.
• Two gobo wheels with seven rotatable, indexable positions plus open, designed for sharp, point-of-source imaging.
• One animation wheel with rotating indexable pattern and variable motion control for textured aerial and surface effects.
• 5 facet step prism for multi-beam looks and added aerial impact.
• Beam and shaft mode indexing and rotating lenticular effect, plus wash mode indexing and rotating beam shaping for expanded visual variety.

Rigging and Operation Notes

• Multiple hanging rail points to support different mounting preferences in truss or venue installs.
