NEW ROBE Universal Interface

The Robe Universal Interface is a multi-functional USB-to-DMX toolbox designed to connect a PC or laptop to your DMX512 lighting system. With 2 DMX ports and one USB port, it supports practical workflows like fixture software updates, RDM-enabled setup and monitoring (with the appropriate software), and using a DMX console as an input source for media and control applications.

USB to DMX Communication for Setup and Maintenance

This unit communicates with a PC or laptop via USB and functions as a USB/DMX converter for show prep and service tasks. The Robe Universal Interface provides fixture software updates, helping keep compatible fixtures current without adding unnecessary hardware to your kit.

RDM Support with Robe RDM-Network Software

With additional ROBE RDM-network software, the Robe Universal Interface provides RDM (Remote Device Management) functionality, bringing the RDM communication protocol into DMX512 control systems. The DreamBox supports RDM, a control protocol featuring AutoPatch and Fixture Status Monitoring.

Integration with Robe Media Fusion and DMX Consoles

The Robe Universal Interface can be used in combination with Robe Media Fusion software as DMX input from any DMX console, making it a useful bridge when you need to capture DMX data for playback, integration, or media-driven control.

Connections and Physical Specifications

DMX data in/out is provided via locking 5-pin XLR connectors for secure cabling in production environments, and the USB connection is USB 2.0 (series B). The rugged aluminium housing is sized for easy transport (Height: 54 mm (2.1″), Width: 86 mm (3.4″), Depth: 108 mm (4.3″)) and weighs 0.3 kg (0.7 lbs).
