NEW Hubbell 50A 3P/4W 480V male twist-lock plug designed for secure, high-current 3-phase AC cord connections where a locking interface helps prevent accidental disconnects.
Application Fit and Wiring
This plug uses a 3-pole, 4-wire grounding wiring scheme with terminals identified per UL 498 (X, Y, Z, White, Green). It accommodates round portable service cords with a .750" to 1.125" (19.1 to 29.2 mm) cord diameter range and supports conductor sizes from #10 AWG minimum to #6 AWG maximum, making it suitable for common heavy-duty cord sets used with 50A 480V 3-phase equipment.
Materials and Durability Details
The housing is made from black Supertough nylon, with glass-reinforced PET used for key internal components including the blade holder, terminal retainer, and cord clamp. Brass blades and a bronze box terminal clamp help support reliable electrical contact, while stainless-steel hardware (including terminal, cord clamp, and body holding screws) is used throughout for fastener strength and corrosion resistance.

Ratings are molded in or stamped on, and the catalog number is permanently ink marked on the product. The device is rated for a minimum 2,000V dielectric withstand and is certified for current interrupting at full rated current. Temperature rise performance is specified as a maximum 30C rise at full rated current after 50 cycles of overload at 150% of rated current at a power factor of 0.75. Flammability ratings include UL 94 V0 for receptacles and inlets, and HB or better for plugs and connectors. Operating temperature range is maximum continuous 75 C and minimum -40 C (w/o impact).
